چکیده

We report the hemodynamic parameters of stage 18, 21, 24, and 27 chick embryos (from 3 to 5 days of incubation). Dorsal aortic blood velocity and mean vitelline artery blood pressure are measured with a 20 MHz pulsed-Doppler meter and servo-null pressure system respectively. We also measure heart rate, dorsal aortic diameter and embryo weight of each developmental stage. From these data, we calculate mean dorsal aortic blood flow, mean dorsal aortic blood flow per cardiac cycle, mean dorsal aortic blood flow per milligram embryo weight, vascular resistance and cardiac work. Blood flow increases geometrically with each embryo stage but remains constant when normalized for embryo weight., Mean arterial pressure increases linearly and vascular resistance decreases geometrically. Cardiac work increases in proportion to embryo weight. These results define the parameters of normal hemodynamic function during early embryonic development. (Circ Res 51: 810-815, 1982)

Effect of changes in circulating blood volume on cardiac output and arterial and ventricular blood pressure in the stage 18, 24, and 29 chick embryo.

We studied the hemodynamic effects of changing volume loading in the chick embryo, before autonomic innervation, to test the hypothesis that the Frank-Starling mechanism functions in the embryonic myocardium. Dorsal aortic blood velocity was measured by pulsed Doppler. Heart rate and aortic diameter were also measured to calculate cardiac output and stroke volume index. Vitelline arterial and v...

The fate map of the cephalic neural primordium at the presomitic to the 3-somite stage in the avian embryo.

The fate map of the early neural plate and neural fold has been established at the cephalic level by using the quail-chick marker system (Le Douarin, 1969,1973). The experimental design comprised the replacement of definite territories belonging to the neural plate and neural folds in the chick embryo by their counterparts from quail embryos at the same developmental stage. This technique is re...

Effect of acute exposure to ethanol on distribution of NR1 subunit of NMDA receptor of glutamate in cerebral cortex of chick embryo

Introduction: There is considerable evidence that glutamate-mediated excitatory neurotransmission plays an important role in mediating the behavioral actions of acutely administered ethanol. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of acute ethanol exposure on NR1 subunit of NMDA (n-methyl-d-aspartate) receptor distribution in the cerebral cortex of chick embryo on the 10th...
